VISHNU KILLED MADHU AND KAITABHA AND KUVALYASVA NAMED AS DHUNDUMARA

Lord Vishnu Kills demons Madhu and Kaitabha on his thigh and  King Kuvalyasva kills the demon Dhundu

Lord Vishnu had killed two demons named Madhu and Kaitabha and he had blessed Sage Uttanka so that Kuvalyasva would rescue him and the whole universe from Madhu and Kaitabha's son Dhundu later. Markandeya sage had elaborated this breathtaking story to the Pandavas which I'm going to narrate here in brief.

After the end of the world, the entire universe used to be submerged in water. There was no one residing on this earth. That time Lord Vishnu was once napping on the massive physique of Shesha on the ekarnava water of the ocean that is known as Anantashesha. Shesha used to be carrying the whole universe on his hood. That time a divine lotus appeared from the navel of Lord Narayana.

Lord Brahma emerged in such a stunning Lotus. He was superb like the Sun god. Madhu and Kaitabha demons saw the supreme god Narayana sleeping there. God was wearing a crown on his head and a Kaustubha gem around his neck. He seemed graceful and divine. The demons had been amazed to see such. Then they looked at Lord Brahma who was sitting on the lotus. The demons started scaring him by way of swinging the stalk of the lotus. Narayana woke up that time and wished to provide such mighty demon boons. Demons in return wished God to ask both of them for the same. God agreed and wished for the boon that he would kill both of them for the welfare of the complete universe. Those demons accepted the circumstance that they would die through the fingers of Narayana there under the open sky like his sons. God finding no different place there, stored their heads on his thigh and cut Off their heads with his divine Chakra.

These demons had a fearless son named Dhundu. He did extreme penance and pleased Lord Brahma. Brahma blessed him that he would no longer be killed by way of any gods, deities, demons, Gandharvas, or snakes. Dhundu grew to become mighty. He began teasing Lord Vishnu and all other deities to avenge the demise of Madhu and Kaitabha. He Resided close to Meru mountain and used to hide under the grains of sand inside the earth near the ocean, regarded as Ujjwalaka. Sage Uttanka's hermitage was close to it. The demon used to spread sparks of fire near his ashram. The demon additionally created troubles there. That time Uttanka Sage recalled the boon he was blessed with the aid of Lord Vishnu.

"When Dhundu demon was meditating for Lord Brahma, throughout those days Uttanka sage was once practising austerities. The sage pleased Lord Vishnu at that time.

Vishnu appeared in front of him and wished to provide him with boons. Sage had requested nothing but to engross his idea totally in God always. Vishnu was completely happy to see the greatness of the sage he had blessed him that he would help all the deities later from the fierce demon Dhundu. Lord had informed the sage that solely by the sage's order, Kuvalyasva or Kuvalyaswa; the son of King Brihadasva of the Ikshavaku dynasty would kill the demon Dhundu and rescue all. "

Seeing the demon creating fuss everywhere, the sage went to the Ikshavaku kingdom and informed Kuvalyasva and his father about it. Kuvalyasva alongside his twenty-one thousand sons went closer to Meru Pradesh. Lord Vishnu blessed him with his grace and power. They began digging the grains of sand for seven days and observed the demon there. He was gigantic. All the sons of Kuvalyasva attacked Dhundu from all sides. The demon got angry and ate all their weapons and spread a spark of fire from his mouth and burnt all the sons of Kuvalyasva into ashes except three. A lot of Water came out of the demon's body. Kuvalyasva through his Ascetic energy drank it all and then used the water to extinguish the fire there. Then he used Brahmastra against the demon and burnt him there. He was named Dhundumara or Dhundumaar there.
