SURYA GAVE AKSHAYA PATRA TO YUDHISHTHIRA AND KRISHNA ATE FROM IT

Yudhishthira Gets Akshaya Patra from Sun God and Durvasa along with his ten thousand disciples visits Pandavas

We all know about the story of Akshaya Patra; the inexhaustible vessel of Pandavas. I will provide an explanation for the same story in brief here but along with that, I will let you understand how did Pandavas honestly get that Akshaya Patra. We all understand that the First time Lord Krishna helped Draupadi at Hastinapur during Dyutkrida when Kauravas had been humiliating her in front of everyone. This is the second time Lord Krishna helped Draupadi when she needed it the most.

When Pandavas went to the forest after Dyutkrida, many student Brahmins accompanied them to the forest. During such an exile period, Dhaumya; a priest of Pandavas was also there alongside them. Yudhishthira was once anxious about feeding the Brahmins considering that he had lost the whole lot in Dyutkrida.

Dhaumya counselled him to pray to Surya. He informed him that, "At the beginning of the world creation, human beings were starving. That time the Sun god out of mercy took the water of the earth and used the same water on the earth during Dakshinayan; travelling from north to south and creating grounds on the earth. Then moon god as in the form of a cloud in space used the radiance of the sun, rained over the earth and that produced many grains and plants over it."

Yudhishthira then began worshipping the sun god devotedly. He did meditation and presented Flowers and Naivedya to the god. He chanted and did prayers in the glorification of the sun god. Surya dev or Sun god was pleased that time and blessed him with food for twelve years.

He gave him a copper vessel and told him that, " any fruits or meals items that will be cooked in this vessel continue to be inexhaustible until Draupadi consumes meals from it. It will be possible for the Pandavas to feed all the Brahmins out of the vessel. " Yudhishthira gave that inexhaustible vessel to Draupadi. She served food to the Brahmins first, then Pandavas and she used to consume at the last.

When Duryodhana was rescued from the Gandharvas with the aid of Arjuna, after that he Performed Vaishnava Yajna. Later he heard about Pandavas were staying peacefully in the forest. He thought of another evil plan. Angry sage Durvasa visited Hastinapura alongside his ten thousand disciples at that time. Duryodhana served them perfectly. Durvasa had also tested the patience of Duryodhana there but he had control over his anger and pleased him. Durvasa wished to grant him a boon. Duryodhana with courtesy requested Sage Durvasa to visit Pandavas and to become their guests. He knew that Draupadi would have completed her food by that time. Durvasa agreed and went to the Pandavas alongside his ten thousand disciples.

Pandavas respectively welcomed all of them in their hermitage and offered their prayer. They politely instructed the sages to finish their bath and have meals then. At that time Sages also did not think of how could the Pandavas arrange to serve meals to many sages. They went for a bath. Draupadi was distressed as she had already completed her food from the vessel. So she started out praying to lord Krishna, chanting strotras with all her heart. Hearing the prayers Lord

Krishna reached there as soon as and heard everything from Draupadi. Lord Krishna instructed Draupadi that he was hungry. Draupadi mentioned to him that she had already completed all the food from the vessel. Lord Krishna asked Draupadi to bring him that vessel. Draupadi gave the vessel to Lord Krishna. He discovered a little bit of saag inside that vessel and he ate it out of starvation. It made him satisfied. He called Sahadeva and asked him to invite the sages there for the food.

Durvasa along with different sages were chanting mantras inside the water at that time. They felt like their stomachs were already full and all of them burped out of satiety. They didn't prefer to have food anymore. Durvasa thought that denying meals would make all the Pandavas angry. Hence he left that place along with his disciples. Pandavas were waiting for the sages in their hermitage. Later they came to understand from Lord Krishna that, Sages had already left and did not choose to have meals anymore. He additionally mentioned that he came there to help Draupadi. Then he left for Dwarika.
