Kauravas came to be aware of Pandavas staying in the Dweta or Dvaita forest near the riverside. Shakuni and Karna recommended Duryodhana go to the vicinity and watch the miserable conditions of the Pandavas along with Draupadi. They, however, convinced Dhritarashtra with an excuse for Ghosayatra there in the Dvaita forest. Indra found out about such an evil idea of Kauravas for humiliating Pandavas and Draupadi. He sent Chitrasena; the king of Gandharvas in the wooded area to defend the Pandavas considering the fact that they did not know the strategy of the Kauravas. Indra ordered Gandharvas to capture and bring Duryodhana along with his ministers to heaven.

Duryodhana along with his brothers, Shakuni, Karna, their wives, and hundreds of men set out for The forest. They had been all observing and counting cows, hunting, and celebrating there. Near the riverside, Yudhishthira was performing yajna along with Draupadi and other Brahmins in that forest. That Yajna needed to be accomplished on the same day only. Duryodhana told his servants to set up sports pavilions there. According to his order, his servants reached close to the riverside but were stopped via Gandharvas there. Duryodhana ordered all his guys and his Kaurava brothers to punish those Gandharvas. Gandharvas warned them but Kauravas didn't listen. They fought. Kauravas fought bravely with the Gandharvas and scared them. Seeing his army terrified, Chitrasena commenced Maya yudh. Each one of the Kauravas was fighting with ten Gandharvas under illusions. Kauravas could no longer face them and started running away from there. Even a courageous warrior like Karna ran away from such a fight.

Duryodhana stayed there and did not get away like others. He shot arrows at them. Gandharvas blocked him from all facets and they destroyed his chariot. Duryodhana fell on the earth and got captured by Chitrasena. They additionally captured Dushasana, Durvisaya, Durmukha, and all the females there. Kaurava men went under the shelter of Pandavas and requested Yudhishthira for releasing Duryodhana from Gandharvas. Bhima made his brother Yudhishthira recall the insults that they had faced in Hastinapura throughout Dyutkrida. However, being religious and kind Dharmaraj Yudhishthira instructed Pandavas to help Duryodhana and free him from such suffering. He ought to not depart the yajna before finishing it. Arjuna promised of helping Duryodhana and alongside the rest of the Pandavas, he reached close to Gandharvas.

Pandavas instructed the Gandharvas to release Duryodhana, his brothers, and their wives. Gandharvas didn't agree.

They fought. Gandharvas damaged Pandavas' chariots, they attacked them in giant numbers. Gandharvas could no longer reach close to them as they were shot via many arrows at a time. Arjuna attacked them with their divine weapons. He killed many Gandharvas by Agni Astra. Bhima, Nakula, and Sahadeva additionally fought fiercely. Arjuna saw Gandharvas flying away in the sky whilst taking to the Kauravas along with them. He shot many divine arrows at them like Bhala, Agney, and stunakarna, and made them remain there. Arjuna broke all the maces of the Gandharvas into pieces. Gandharvas were frightened and they vanished from there and attacked Pandavas with divine weapons. Arjuna shot arrows against all the divine weapons and defeated them. Then Chitrasena began Mayayudha there. He disappeared into the sky. Arjuna attacked him with divine arrows fearlessly and made him appear there. Chitrasena was wounded badly by Arjuna's arrows. Chitrasen informed Arjuna that he Had regarded him as his friend only. By hearing this Arjuna stopped the combat with Chitrasena there. Other Pandavas additionally ended it. Chitrasena defined them as the Kauravas' strategy for embarrassing Pandavas along with Draupadi about which They were no longer conscious of it. He also mentioned the discussion between him and Indra.

They all went to Dharmaraj Yudhishthira. He advised the Gandharva king to let the Kauravas go. They agreed, left for heaven and explained everything to Indra. Indra then by giving nectar made those Gandharvas alive who were killed by Kauravas. Yudhishthira lovingly told Duryodhana never to show such recklessness again and no longer to keep any hatred feelings for Pandavas. Duryodhana was embarrassed by way of such an incident as he was rescued with the aid of the Pandavas. He couldn't face the fact and even after getting consoled by using Shakuni and Karna he didn't return to Hastinapur and went on fasting till death.
