Sage Maitreya curses Duryodhana for his absurd behaviourIt's a short unknown tale that would possibly capture your interest too. Duryodhana once was cursed by Sage Maitreya. From my preceding blog post, we all came to know how Pandavas left for the forest after losing the whole thing in gambling.

Sage Vyasa, Bhishma, Vidura, and Dronacharya all made Dhritarashtra conscious of the reality that Pandavas were defeated by tricks that would bring the destruction of Kauravas. They all recommended he make peace with all the Pandavas.
One day Sage Maitreya visited Hastinapur after meeting with all the Pandavas in the forest. Vyasa had informed Dhritarashtra earlier that Maitreya would teach his son Duryodhana to maintain concord with the Pandavas. He had additionally warned him not to disregard the sage’s advice. Dhritarashtra welcomed Maitreya respectfully and offered his prayers to him. King asked the sage related to the welfare of all the Pandavas. Dhritarashtra additionally wished to know whether Pandavas would stick to the promises that they had made before leaving for the forest and whether the Kauravas would hold respect towards their brothers.
Maitreya instructed him, "King! I have always been affectionate towards you. I met Pandavas and came to understand about gambling and how Kauravas out of stupidity defeated Pandavas there. How can Kauravas behave like reevers in the king's assembly? How come such injustice happen considering that Bhishma Pitamaha and the king himself were present at that time? You both could have ended it."
Sage then turned his face towards Duryodhana and informed him calmly, "Oh excellent Duryodhana! I am suggesting you for your good do not hold hatred feelings for the Pandavas. They possess the energy of ten thousand elephants. Hidimb, Kimira, Jarasandha, and other powerful demons have been killed via Bhima. Lord Krishna always supports them. No one can defeat him in war. You must maintain peace with these Pandavas. Do not let anger manage your mind"
While Hearing this Duryodhana was sarcastically smiling, hitting his hand on his strong thighs, and began scratching the flooring with his feet. He didn't reply to the sage at all. Seeing Duryodhana ignoring his words and consistently scratching the floor, Sage got irritated and cursed him, " Duryodhana! You have disrespected me by way of not listening to me. You will get the penalties for your pride. "
Dhritarashtra pleased the sage and asked him for a solution there.
Sage Maitreya mentioned to him that if his son keeps harmony along with the Pandavas then, his curse won't work.
