TREMENDOUS HELP OF SAGE DADHICHI AND AGASTYA

Sage Dadhichi sacrifices himself for creating Vajra, Indra Kills Vritrasura, and Agastya Digests the ocean

I went through the book and discovered another fascinating story of Indra making his Vajra or thunder weapon from the bones of Sage Dadhichi and Sage Agastya drinking the entire ocean for the welfare of all the deities. Both of the stories are interlinked. We can get to be aware of the power of asceticism here. In the book, sage Lomasa continues to tell the tales of the splendid sages to the Pandavas in the course of their pilgrimage.

During Satya yuga, there used to be a horrifying group of demons recognized as Kalakeyas. They all took shelter below Another Demon recognized as Vritrasura.  That time they all together attacked the deities from everywhere. Indra, to kill the Demons, pleaded near Lord Brahma. He informed all the deities to worship sage Dadhichi and ask him to provide the bones of his body for the peace of the world. Brahma additionally referred to them to create a strong and fierce thunderbolt weapon from the bones that would kill Vritrasura.  Deities as per Brahma's directions went to Dadhichi's hermitage close to the Sarasvati river.

They all requested the boon and were pleased Dadhichi sacrificed his life for the safety of the world. Sage agreed. Deities created an effective weapon from his bones. Indra went close to Vritrasura along with some different mighty deities. Deities and Demons had a destructive war in opposition to each other. Deities could no longer tolerate the demon's assault and started running here and there. To overcome their fear, they prayed to God Vishnu. Vishnu gave them some of his strength and security. Indra rushed toward Vritrasura and attacked him with his Vajra. Vritrasura was dead through such force of the weapon. Indra could not accept as true with of himself killing the demon and was about to hide inside the river out of terror. But he came to know that Vritrasura was killed via him and all the deities appreciated Indra for his skill. Deities attacked the rest of the demons. Demons ran away in panic and hid inside the ocean.

The demons thought of taking revenge on the Ascetics first. Since it was proved that Ascetic strength rescued the deities, they determined to slaughter the Ascetics first to wreck the world. A demon named Kaleya took shelter beneath the ocean inside the residence of Varuna Deva and killed the Ascetics one by one by way of ingesting them in the night. The demons ate one hundred eighty-eight Brahmins who had been residing at sage Vashistha's hermitage. The demons made many spiritual Brahmins their meal. No one ought to capture the demons due to the fact they used to attack in the nighttime and then hid beneath the ocean. Deities prayed to Lord Vishnu for help. They worshipped and thrilled him. Glad about their devotion, Lord Vishnu instructed them about the group of demons named Kaleya. He mentioned how demons killed the Brahmins in the nighttime and then hid below the ocean. Since Indra had killed Vritrasura with the help of Vajra, Kaleya demons were determined to avenge his death in such a way. Lord Vishnu advised them to ask Agastya sage for help.

The deities agreed and went to his hermitage. They worshipped him and Sought help. Indra requested the sage to drink the whole ocean so that they would kill those demons who hid below the water. Great Agastya agreed and drank the whole ocean with his Ascetic power. He made the ocean completely dry. All the Deities had been delighted to see such. They all stormed at the demons and killed everybody there. They triumphed over all the Kaleya demons without a few who ran away to the underworld out of fear.

Then the Deities respectfully requested Agastya to release the ocean water again to its place. But he denied such on account that he had already digested the water inside his body.

So this was once how Sage Dadhichi and Sage Agastya helped the deities in killing the demons. Later Bhagiratha filled the ocean with water which I will give an explanation for in my subsequent post.

Sage Agastya had additionally stopped the Vindhya Mountain as soon as from growing up. The mountain wished the solar god to rotate around him instead of the Mountain Meru in the course of daybreak and sunset. It was against the guidelines sun god denied. Vindhya Mountain out of rage began growing up to put a hindrance on the way of the sun and moon. Agastya instructed the mountain to show him the way in the direction of the south and not to develop up more until he comes back. Agastya never returned from the south and That's how Vindhya Mountain stopped growing up more. I additionally mentioned this story to let you all be aware of how sages had been helping in keeping the tranquillity of the world.
